Setting up your MiniSite template: This is a mini05 group template: Combine only with mini05 templates Click Here for Minisite Updates and Support View Allwebco Minisite Web Templates Step 1: EDIT LOGO: | More details The text logo includes 3 parts for the 2 different logo colors and slogan line. Open the "header.js" in a text editor like Notepad or TextEdit and edit the text following "var logo1" and the text following "var logo2" with your website name. Edit the text following "var logo_slogan" with your slogan. Click link above for details. If you wish to use a graphic logo, there are instructions later in this document. Step 2: EDIT FOOTER: | More Details Open the "footer.js" file in Notepad or any text editor, and change the "Your Company" line with your company name. This will change the lower page info on all pages. Edit all ".js" files with a text editor. Step 3: EDIT CONTACT INFO: | More Details Open the "contact.js" file in Notepad or any text editor and change the e-mail address in 8 total areas with your e-mails. Or you can turn off any e-mails you are not using in the contact.js. This will change contact info on the contact page. Be sure to test these e-mail links. Step 4: EDIT HTML5 VIDEOS: | Click for add-on details Videos are included on 3 template pages: index.html, videos.htm, and video-SINGLE.htm. All files for the videos are located in the "videos-HTML5" folder. With HTML5 video you will create your 1 movie file, then covert it to 4 other formats. See the HTML5 video support page for setup details and options. To remove the video on the homepage either rename the "OPTIONAL-index.html" to "index.html" or delete the code between the "START VIDEO" and "END VIDEO" notes in the "index.html". Step 5: EDIT THE sidebar.js: | More Details Open the "sidebar.js" file in Notepad or any text editor. There are some variables at the top you can change. You can start by editing the following line about 45 lines down in the sidebar.js: document.write('This area is for notes or links. Edit the sidebar.js to update this text. '); Edit only the text in the center and do not disturb the code at the start and end of each line. The sidebar is a global file and all pages will update when you edit this file. You can also replace the "sidebar-1.jpg" and "sidebar-2.jpg" in the "picts" folder with your own images. Step 6: EDIT Facebook and Twitter LINKS: | Social Links | .js variable editing Open the "header.js" in a text editor and edit the 2 link variables with your link to Twitter and/or Facebook. The "header.js" includes "yes/no" variables to turn off any or all of the social links. View header editing help. Step 7: EDIT PAGES: | Software choices | Notepad Editing Edit the text on all HTML pages with your information. You can use Frontpage, Dreamweaver, any wysiwyg HTML editor or a text editor like Notepad. Take care not to delete any of the HTML tags that surround the text. Step 8: EDIT TITLES, DESCRIPTIONS AND KEYWORDS: | More Details Open each of the pages and change the titles (at the very top of the page) and also the description and the keywords to match your product or service. You can edit one page and copy and paste to the other pages. Be careful to only change what's inside the "" so you don't disturb the html code. Page titles are important so your site will get a good listing at Google or Yahoo! and other search engines. Step 9: UPLOAD: | More Details Upload the pages on to your hosting company's server using ftp software or Windows Explorer or your control panel. Be sure to upload the "picts" and "videos-HTML5" folders and all files in these folders. Options: COMBINING MINISITES: If you have purchased more than one Minisite of the same template "group" number, for example "mini05" is the name or number of this template group, you can combine pages and/or features easily between these models. MAKING ROOM FOR MORE MENU LINKS: If you add more links to the "menu.js" you can adjust the left and right padding in the ".menu" class in the bottom of the "coolstyle.css". The padding is set at 20px but you can make that less if you require. Optionally an extra set of links can be switched on in the "sidebar.js". USING A GRAPHIC LOGO: To use your own graphic logo in the header, edit the "header.js". Edit the "var logotype" from "text" to "graphic" (all lowercase). In the picts folder you will find a graphic called "logo.jpg". Edit this graphic with your logo. If you re-size the "logo.jpg" you may need to adjust the header height in the "coolstyle.css". EDITING VIDEO SIZES AND VIDEO OPTIONS: See the HTML5 video support page for setup details and options. FONTS: | More Details You can change your font colors and sizes by editing the "coolstyle.css" with a text editor. You can find other font colors by clicking here. You can also change the font sizes in the "coolstyle.css" file. Change the "body" px size to change the copy on all pages. Change the "title" px size to change all the title sizes. The background color and other colors are also changed in this CSS file. PAGE HEIGHTS: So all your pages will maintain a standard height a "pageheight" class is included in the "coolstyle.css". Edit this height to any height you need. CHANGING / ADDING BUTTONS: | More Details You can change the names on the menu buttons like "about us" or "home" to other page names by editing the "menu.js" in Notepad. Only change the one instance of the name and not the name with the ".htm" after it. Whatever you change in the menu.js will change every page on the website. You can also add more menu buttons by copying the lines of code in the menu.js and pasting it right below the next. Be sure to back up your file before you edit them. You will also find menu links to edit in the "footer.js". Links are included in the "sidebar.js" as well. Turn on the sidebar links by choosing "yes" near the top of the "sidebar.js" for the "show sidebar links" line. ADDING PAGES: | More Details You can add pages to your website by copying and pasting any one of the pages and renaming it to whatever you need. You can then add links from the other pages or even add the page to the menu by opening the menu.js and copying and pasting one of the buttons below another. There are notes in the "menu.js" to help you add a button. PICTURES: | More Details You can replace all template images with your own. You will find all pictures in the "picts" folder. Hover over any image to see the image sizes. |
